85 Sports Management, LLC, is a sports agency founded in 2018 to advise, represent and advocate for aspiring and talented hockey players who are on a path to play junior, college and/or professional hockey at the highest levels possible.
Based in Columbus, Ohio, 85 Sports Management is owned and operated by two former junior and college teammates – both of whom grew up playing prep school, junior and college hockey. After graduating from college and exploring different career paths, Nick Shackford and Niles Moore reunited in 2018 to launch the agency and return to their first love and passion in life – hockey.
Nick Shackford, who manages hockey operations for 85 Sports, coached and scouted for eight years for five teams in the North American Hockey League (NAHL), including the Kenai River (Alaska) Brown Bears and the Johnstown (PA) Tomahawks.
Niles Moore, on the other hand, pursued a career in law, graduating in 2014 from Syracuse University College of Law. He is now a practicing attorney with the nationally recognized Columbus, Ohio law firm, Moore & Yaklevich. The role of 85 Sports Management is multi-faceted.
It will represent, advise and advocate for hockey players from the youth levels all the way to the professional levels. Skilled in various disciplines, 85 Sports will serve as the players’ personal coach, mentor, advisor and academic liaison as well as promote, represent and negotiate contracts at the Major Junior and professional levels for its clients. 85 Sports provides elite hockey players with a wide range of services for developing their skills and advancing their careers. This includes helping player clients in navigating the many and often confusing career options as they move up the hockey ladder into tougher and tougher levels of competition.
